The match between Austria and North Macedonia – which ended in a 3-1 win for Austria – is the third at Euro 2020 since Eriksen suffered a cardiac arrest.
The 29-year-old collapsed during Saturday’s game and required several minutes of CPR on the pitch.
The Denmark international is now awake and stable at hospital after being resuscitated with a defibrillator.
The incident has worried the wider footballing community and Lainer decided to pay tribute to Eriksen when he scored Austria’s opener in the 18th minute.
The Borussia Monchengladbach defender held up an Austrian jersey in celebration with the words ‘ERIKSEN STAY STRONG’ written across the front.
Lainer has never played with Eriksen but several members of Austria’s squad, including ex-West Ham star Marko Arnautovic, have played against the stricken footballer.

Many feared Eriksen had suffered a cardiac arrest and the awful news has now been confirmed by Denmark’s team doctor Morten Boesen.
He said: “We don’t have an explanation for what happened.
“I didn’t see it live, I saw it on the screen after it happened.
“It was a cardiac arrest. He was gone and we did cardiac resuscitation.
“How close were we? I don’t know. We got him back after 1 defib. That’s quite fast.
“The details, I’m not a cardiologist, so I will leave to the experts.”
